Paint protection film (PPF) is a high grade, durable colorless urethane film applied to high-impact areas of your vehicle. It is most commonly referred to as Clear Bra or 3M Clear Bra.
We have been installing 3M PPF since 2007. 3M was the pioneer of paint protection film. As we all know, once something great is built many other follow suit. Over the past 7 years, we have tried 8 different films. So far we are happy with 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film and Suntek Paint Protection Film. It really is a customer’s preference as to which film we install. Both films pretty much cost the same, so we charge the same no matter what film you choose. I will provide the pros and cons of these two films and you make the decision at what best suits you.
The pros and cons listed below are based solely on our experience and opinion.
- 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film Pros:
5 Year Warranty, Virtually Clear, Aggressive Adhesive, Product Longevity, Clear Coat, We have not had to process ANY warranty claims
- 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film Cons:
Orange Peel Finish, Very visible on dark colored cars, More likely to see stretch marks, Longer installation times in cold weather.
- Suntek Paint Protection Film Pros:
5 Year Warranty, Exceptionally Clear (almost invisible on dark colored cars), Self-Healing Film (scratches vanish with hot water), No Stretch Marks, Faster Installation
